United States Foreign Policy. The World Today Is Ravaged
United States Foreign Policy The world today is ravaged by weather disasters, economic disaster, diplomatic disputes, and even military conflict. The United States puts these issues into a category called foreign policy. Foreign policy is defined as a government s strategy in dealing with foreign affairs. (ââ¬Å"Foreign Policy,â⬠2017) The United States has the challenge of facing all of these problems on a daily basis. Whether it is resolving issues in the South China Sea, or aiding countries damaged by natural disasters, the US foreign policy is at work. The US has taken different approaches in dealing with this policy. There is really two ways that a country can approach it. There is a view of an isolationist state, which is a stance inâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦The United States was referred to as a ââ¬Å"sleeping giantâ⬠. Trading was limited at this time. After the Battle of Britain, the United States people started to feel a need to be less of an isolationist state. World War II was the las t time the United States took to the true idea of isolationism. What would an Isolationist America look like? The United States has taken the role as a world interventionist in many conflicts. In an Isolation state, we would no longer be getting involved in those conflicts. The United States would pull its troops out of locations all around the world. The United States would seek to be more independent both economically, and with the use of its military. World trade would be significantly decreased and the tariff rates would increase. The United States would leave the United Nations and cut ties and relations with other countries. The military budget of the country would decrease significantly, but the national security defense would increase. In this state, it would expose you as a nation because of the lack of allies. This makes it necessary to have a large and sophisticated defense. The isolation outlook takes away the threat of war unless you are directly attacked. In 2013, 52 percent of Americans agreed that their country should mind its own business internationally.(Gerson, ââ¬Å"US Isolationismâ⬠) Isolationism has it s positives, but also entails negative parts.
